1/4 c. Sodium bicarbonate (baking soda)
1/8 c. Arrowroot powder
1/8 c. Redmond or bentonite clay (I prefer white/light gray over the green)
4 Tb. Organic un-refined coconut oil (antiviral, antibacterial and anti-fungal)
20 Drops essential oils (your choice)
Add all ingredients (except essential oil), mix on low heat until melted, & remove from heat. Let cool for about 3-5 mins. Add essential oil, stir well, & pour into a shallow container or empty deodorant stick. To speed up solidification, put it in the fridge/freezer for a few minutes.
My favorite essential oils for deodorant are Tea Tree, Thieves (I make my own), Germ Fighter, Peppermint, Spearmint, Lemon, Orange, Frankincense, Lavender, Chamomile, Patchouli, etc...
I have not had a problem with this staining my clothes. Green clay will be more prone to slightly discoloring your undergarments, so I do recommend the white/light gray clay) And this stuff works great!
Primal Pit Paste is awesome. Hands down. They're getting 5 star reviews like crazy. If I don't have time to make deodorant for whatever reason, or I'm out of town & forget to take mine, THIS is my 'go to' product.
First of all, the only compensation I got from doing this review was 5 little teeny tiny sample jars to try. That's it. I will not try to sell you on a product I don't believe in, & I'm not receiving a dime for telling you about it. I'm just excited that there are more good healthy deodorants that works & aren't slowly killing you! So I'm letting you know about it. ((Note: I do also love Bubble & Bee's deodorant. I used it for almost a year & never had a problem with it. They have a stick, spray, & cream available. So that's an option too. Lots of yummy fun scents... HOWEVER, I really honestly think my personal preference is Primal Pit Paste or my homemade recipe above.))
If you're not already aware, most commercial anti-perspirants / deodorants on the market today contain harmful parabens & aluminum. These are linked to Alzheimer's and cancer, & parabens are endocrine disruptors, which wreak havoc on your hormones... Not a good thing.
All of Primal's products are handcrafted from organic & totally natural ingredients. You can EAT it, & it won't hurt you! Their Pit Paste ingredients are organic coconut oil, organic raw shea butter, baking soda, organic arrowroot powder, & organic essential oils. ((Note: If you're sensitive to baking soda - *ie, skin irritant* - they do have a sensitive skin variety available)).
There are jars & sticks available, & they have a good selection of yummy smells - as well as unscented. They also have a "strong" version for extra odor kill, & a kid's version in 'Lemonade' scent! So far, I've seen it available in several natural food stores & in their online store.
